Latest update:

Ronald Koeman was strengthened by his family during the match of the Dutch national team against Romania on Tuesday evening. The grandchildren of the national coach were also present. The grandchild had brought a special present for his grandfather.

Even before the kick-off of the Dutch team's eighth final match against the Romanians, a journalist present noticed: Koeman was handed something by his grandson. A piece of paper.

But what was actually written on that piece of paper was unclear to him. The journalist decides to ask the national coach. “On the grandson's piece of paper was the result and a nice drawing,” smiles the referee and grandfather about the heartwarming present from his grandchild.

Koeman's grandson almost turns out to be a master predictor, but not quite. “He didn't get it right, because he said 3-1. It's nice to see that they are involved and that they are there.”

“They were absent for one match and you know which one it was,” the national coach refers to the 3-2 group match lost to Austria. With their presence, the Dutch team has not lost yet.

Koeman therefore has a message for the people within the KNVB. “Just make sure they are there again on Saturday,” the selector winks.

Saturday night at nine o'clock the Dutch team will face the winner of the last eighth final duel, which will be between Turkey and Austria. If Oranje decides to win, the battle with England or Switzerland awaits in the semi-final.
