Romelu Lukaku has reached a personal agreement with Napoli, writes transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio. A transfer is not yet very close, as the Italians have to reach an agreement with Chelsea. There is currently a gap of ten million euros between supply and demand.

Lukaku has an excellent relationship with Napoli manager Antonio Conte, with whom he worked at Inter. Lukaku also has a good track record in Serie A, and Napoli have made him their number one transfer target.

Lukaku has shown himself prepared to make significant concessions on his salary. While he currently earns eleven million euros per year at Chelsea, he has agreed a three-year contract with Napoli for an annual salary of six million euros, excluding bonuses.

Now Napoli must reach an agreement with Chelsea, who have lowered their asking price for Lukaku from 44 million euros to 35 million excluding bonuses. Napoli do not seem to want to go further than 25 million for the striker, who is contracted to Chelsea until mid-2026.

Napoli are currently negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has a release clause of 120 million in his contract, which runs until mid-2026, but the Parisians do not seem to want to meet it.

Fabrizio Romano described the negotiations between Napoli and PSG as 'not easy' on Friday, which raises the question of whether and when an agreement will be reached. Lukaku is in any case eager to succeed the Nigerian top striker.

Lukaku played in Serie A last season for AS Roma, who had negotiated a purchase option but did not activate it. The Red Devil returned to Chelsea, where he is unhappily married. It looks like Napoli will be his new love. Lukaku may have to wait until Osimhen is out of the door for good.
