RKC Waalwijk was painfully eliminated in the TOTO KNVB Cup by De Treffers on Wednesday evening: 2-0. The second divisionist from Groesbeek was simply too strong for the number seven of the Eredivisie, who took office with several well-known names such as Florian Jozefzoon and Zakaria Bakkali.

The problems for the Waalwijkers arose after fifteen minutes of play. Former Fortuna Sittard right winger Gavin Vlijter cleverly shot the ball past RKC keeper Joel Pereira. After that, RKC had possession of the ball, but the great opportunities were for the home team. The Treffers-Keeper Niels Kornelis turned out to be a true cup hero with a number of good reflexes.

At halftime, Jozefzoon was replaced by Roy Kuijpers, while Kevin Felida was also allowed to make his appearance as a replacement for Yassin Oukili. Even with these newcomers, the away team was unable to make a fist in Groesbeek, so Iliass Bel Hassani was brought in for the disappointing Mika Biereth. However, with the experienced Bel Hassani in the team, things got even worse: Brian Campman shot the 2-0 behind the ropes with a wonderful free kick, which means that RKC has been eliminated in the TOTO KNVB Cup in a rather embarrassing way.

Cossack Boys – Vitesse 2-2 (intermediate score)
As expected, the Arnhemmers immediately took the initiative on a visit to Werkendam. After fifteen minutes of play, VfL Wolfsburg mercenary Bartosz Bialek Vitesse took the lead with a hard shot with his left leg into the top corner. Although there seemed to be nothing in the air, the Kozak Boys came alongside just before half-time thanks to an amazing free kick by ex-pro Lars Hutten. The right leg left Daan Reiziger completely without a chance from about thirty meters: 1-1! After the break, Vitesse overcame the blow thanks to a goal from Kacper Kozlowski, who saw his effort fall through goalkeeper Bryan Janssen. Eight minutes before the end, the home team came back into the game again, when former NEC player Lowie van Zundert spooned the ball over goalkeeper Reiziger: 2-2.

Excelsior – MVV Maastricht 5-1
Excelsior had no child with MVV on Wednesday evening. After Feyenoord mercenary Marouan Azarkan was illegally knocked down in the penalty area, striker Reda Kharchouch opened the score from eleven meters in the 22nd minute. After another good action by Azarkan, Lazaros Lamprou was able to double the score with a scorer. Before halftime, the Greek made his second of the evening, making it 3-0 for Excelsior. Not much later, Kharchouch scored his second goal via another penalty. In the end, the final chord was for Koen Kostons of MVV, who determined the final score at 5-1.

Go Ahead Eagles – Helmond Sport 3-1
René Hake’s team took the lead after seven minutes. Defender Jay Idzes saved a corner from Philippe Rommens: 1-0. The latter came on the scoreboard more than half an hour later. The midfielder, who has not yet managed to score this season, tried from outside the box and passed Helmond goalkeeper Mike Havekotte: 2-0.

However, the visitors did not give up easily and shortly before the break even made the connecting goal via Håkon Lorentzen: 2-1. Helmond could not enjoy that alone for a long time. Just five minutes later, Sylla Sow reduced the margin to two after a free kick: 3-1. No more goals were scored in the second half.
