Bayer Leverkusen continues to perform poorly in the Bundesliga. The team of Peter Bosz lost in-house on Sunday to relegation candidate Arminia Bielefeld, who has disappeared from the relegation zone thanks to a 1-2 victory. It is already Bayer’s fourth loss in the last six games in all competitions, including the two losses against Young Boys in Europe. The backlog in fourth place can be bridged for the time being. Eintracht Frankfurt has only three points more and will play an away game against RB Leipzig later today.

The Bosz team, which due to injuries did not have Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Daley Sinkgraven at its disposal, had much more possession in the first half, more than seventy percent, but was unable to do much with it. Arminia Bielefeld also defended with a lot of passion and took the first chance after seventeen minutes. After a sharp cross from Christian Gebauer from the right, PSV mercenary Ritsu Doan was faster than Edmond Tapsoba and he worked the ball through Tapsoba and the bottom of the crossbar: 0-1.

Bayer’s best chance, with Jeremie Frimpong in the starting line-up, fell eight minutes before half time. The ball came through Nadiem Amiri and Tapsoba on the left to the detached Demarai Gray, who worked the ball on goal with a volley from about seven meters and saw how goalkeeper Stefan Ortega worked the ball over the goal with his left hand. Bosz intervened in the break and took Kerim Demirbay and Gray to the side, in favor of Leon Bailey and Lucas Alario.

A counterattack led to the 0-2 for the visitors after less than an hour of play. The ball ended up through Anderson Lucoqui to the completely detached Masaya Okugawa, who worked the ball into the right corner behind goalkeeper Lennart Grill. Bayer tried to get back into the game, but it clearly lacked precision in the last pass and in the end it remained with the connection goal of Patrik Schick five minutes before time. Mike van der Hoorn came in two minutes before time as replacement for Gebauer.
