Ritsu Doan was injured during training with the Japanese national team, the 23-year-old PSV attacker reports on his Instagram account. Doan has decided to skip the upcoming international matches.

“I am leaving the Japanese national team due to an injury,” Doan wrote on Instagram. “I’m disappointed because I got injured before an important game. I believe in my teammates and I will prepare for the next period with the national team from now on.” Doan has 21 caps to his name, in which he scored 3 times.

Doan reported to Japan this week to prepare for two games in the World Cup qualifying series. The country will play against Saudi Arabia and Australia next week. It is still unclear how serious Doan’s injury is and whether he can be used again for PSV in a week. The Eindhoven team will play a home game in the Eredivisie with PEC Zwolle on Saturday, October 16.

In the past four games, Doan was in the basic team of Roger Schmidt at PSV. That was related to the muscle injury of Noni Madueke. Opposite the bad news from Doan is for PSV that Madueke made his comeback on Wednesday in a closed exhibition game with TOP Oss (0-0). The Englishman played along for a little over an hour.
