The prosecutor for professional football has made Riechedly Bazoer a settlement proposal of three matches, one of which is conditional, for his red card against FC Emmen (3-1 win). His employer Vitesse has announced that he has accepted the proposal, so that the 24-year-old center-back and midfielder has to miss the duels with FC Groningen and Fortuna Sittard.

Bazoer was sent off the field against Emmen after half an hour. The six-time Orange-international tried with a high leg to intercept the ball from Sergio Peña, but instead ended up with his studs on the leg of his opponent. Referee Jeroen Manschot initially let go of the incident, but decided to red after interference from the VAR and viewing the images.

At that time, Vitesse was already assured of a 2-0 lead against Emmen, because Oussama Tannane had scored twice via a penalty and a shot from the edge of the box. The team from Arnhem had hardly any trouble to stay on their feet against the Drenthenians in the meantime and even came through Loïs Openda to 3-0. Emmen still started in the second half, but more than a ticker from Michael de Leeuw was not possible for Dick Lukkien’s team: 3-1.

Bazoer has become one of the supporting players of Vitesse under trainer Thomas Letsch. The former Ajax player has been pushed back from midfield to defense by the German coach and missed only three minutes of play until the match against Emmen. Bazoer scored one goal in eight Eredivisie matches this season (against his former club Ajax).
