Bruma is one of the most striking players at PSV this season. The attacker has barely made his mark on the game of the Eindhoven players since his transfer from RB Leipzig, but seems to have regained confidence this season. The fact that Bruma finally seems to feel at home at PSV is apparent from the fact that he decided on his own initiative to hand in part of his salary, technical manager John de Jong recently told the PSV. NOS. “Money is not the most important,” said Bruma. “More important is: being happy, playing, being part of the team, developing myself, working together.” After all that failed in his first season in Eindhoven service, PSV decided to rent him out to Olympiacos last season. This summer, the swift winger returned.
To make matters worse, Bruma was also robbed by his best friend last year. “I lost a lot of money because he took it from my account without my permission,” the attacker recalls. “I found out too late and was very disappointed. It has had a big impact on my performance.” Bruma felt alone for that reason. “I did call my mother, she was the only one I wanted to talk to. I hope something like this never happens to me again. It was going really bad with me, I felt left to my own devices. I was not there with my head , there were times when I just didn’t care anymore.”
Bruma is determined to make a success of his return to PSV. “I have finally found a house,” continues the Portuguese. “I love Eindhoven, it is a nice city. And what is very important, the supporters are a great support for me, just like my girlfriend who is with me now. When I sign autographs, the supporters say that I “I have to go. That has given me a lot of confidence. I am happy and want to continue as I am now. I am satisfied with the path my life has taken.”
