Latest update:

Reporter Ralf Crutzen, known for his entertaining way of tweeting with the official account of MVV Maastricht, has apologized for a tweet during the away match against Jong Ajax (3-0). Crutzen celebrated his frustration bid for X.

MVV had a very hard time on Monday evening at Sports Complex De Toekomst. Young Ajax entered the Kitchen Champion Division match with million-dollar signings such as Sivert Mannsverk and Anton Gaaei. After two early goals from Julian Rijkhoff, a winter purchase from Ajax, MVV responded to X with an angry tweet.

“Julian Rijkhoff was signed this winter for an amount equal to twice MVV's salary budget,” Crutzen claimed. “More valuable than our selection, but great for Dutch football as a whole that it can destroy our period chances tonight.”

Prior to the meeting with Jong Ajax, MVV was second in the third period of the Kitchen Champion Division. With a win over De Toekomst, Maurice Verberne's team would take the lead in the period.

Crutzen's tweet was quickly deleted, but was nevertheless already circulating on social media. He apologizes. “There are people who should stay away from Twitter when they have been drinking,” he writes on X.

“I have that when MVV plays against promising teams. Tweeting something very angry with emotion because you lose again on Monday evening, swallowing it again and then being very angry again a little later.”

Return

Last April, Crutzen decided to resign from his duties as a volunteer at the club. The acclaimed Twitter reporter felt forced to do this because 'certain people within the club ensure that it is no longer workable'.

“With a lot of pain in my heart: although I was going to finish the season as a Twitterer for MVV, I have decided to stop immediately,” Crutzen wrote on his own account. He returned this season.
