PSV will have to deal with a dilemma around Denzel Dumfries in the coming weeks. Following the example of the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, it also makes Eindhovens Dagblad report of a rejected offer from Internazionale for the 25-year-old wing defender, although it is not confirmed from Eindhoven that the amount is twelve million euros. The newspaper now writes that PSV is in a situation in which it must be considered whether Dumfries should be registered for the last preliminary round of the Champions League against Benfica.

Dumfries enjoyed a longer holiday after the European Championship and was initially given the space to make a transfer together with Donyell Malen. The striker has already moved to Borussia Dortmund, but there is not much movement around Dumfries. Inter has been the main contender for weeks and it was recently reported that if Romelu Lukaku were to make the switch to Chelsea for 115 million euros, Dumfries would be at the top of the wish list.

Everton is also interested, but cannot buy players for the time being. According to Italian sources, Inter reported to PSV with twelve million euros, but that offer was rejected by the people of Eindhoven. PSV requires according to the Eindhovens Dagblad an amount of fifteen to twenty million euros. Moreover, people in Eindhoven do not intend to cooperate in a rental with an option to buy. Thus, a transfer from Dumfries to Italy is ‘not a foregone conclusion’.

Dumfries recently returned to De Herdgang, but is training there for himself for the time being and was not part of the match selection for the Champions League duels with FC Midtjylland because he did not want to disrupt the current hierarchy and group dynamics. It Eindhovens Dagblad writes that a situation is now arising in which PSV has to think about whether Dumfries should be registered for the last preliminary round of the Champions League. Benfica is the opponent in this: first out next Wednesday, a week later in Eindhoven.
