At Real Madrid there is a big cleaning coming, so you know ASH to report. The Royal wants to soon say goodbye to six players, to whom the club currently loses 108 million euros in salary costs. With the money saved, the transfer-free arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the contract extension of Vinícíus Júnior must be paid for.

The transition to a new era started last summer, with the departures of Sergio Ramos (to Paris Saint-Germain) and Raphaël Varane (to Manchester United). Isco, Marcelo, Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, Luka Jovic and Jesús Vallejo should soon follow. The six currently cost Real Madrid 108 million euros in salary costs (they net 54 million euros) and Bale in particular puts a lot of pressure on the budget. The 32-year-old attacker earns a net salary of fifteen million euros in the Spanish capital, but has barely been able to play this season due to a knee injury.

Bale’s contract expires next summer, making the winter transfer window the last opportunity for Real Madrid to recover a (small) part of the transfer fee (101 million euros) paid to Totenham Hotspur in 2013. Isco (acquired for EUR 30 million from Málaga in 2013) and Marcelo (acquired for EUR 6.5 million in 2007 from Fluminense) are also in possession of expiring contracts, both earn a net salary of EUR 8 million and gain little gain play, allowing for savings by letting them go as quickly as possible.

Together, Bale, Marcelo and Isco earn a net salary of 31 million euros (for which Real Madrid pays a total of 62 million euros) and with the money that can be saved with their departure, Mbappe must be brought in. The French attacker is in possession of an expiring contract with Paris Saint-Germain and has been strongly associated with Real Madrid for some time. In addition, the Royal to break open Vinícíus Júnior’s contract that runs until mid-2025.

The situation of Hazard, Jovic and Vallejo is different from that of Bale, Marcelo and Isco, as they at least have a longer contract. At Real Madrid, they have not completely given up hope for Hazard, despite the fact that he has frequently struggled with physical problems since his arrival – in 2019 for a total of 115 million euros from Chelsea. With a net annual salary of three million euros (after Andriy Lunin the lowest in the selection), Vallejo does not put a particularly heavy burden on the budget, only he hardly appears in the plans. For that reason, people are not unsympathetic to the departure of the 24-year-old center defender.

Jovic also hardly gets to play at Real Madrid. However, the Spanish superpower hopes to see a large part of the 63 million euros that was paid to Eintracht Frankfurt more than two years ago for the 23-year-old striker. Real Madrid already managed to save a bit on Jovic last season, when he spent six months on a rental basis at Eintracht Frankfurt. His contract will run until mid-2025.
