Latest update:

Kepa Arrizabalaga will return to Chelsea after this season, according to the generally well-established report Relevo. The Spanish goalkeeper is currently on loan from the Londoners by Real Madrid, but the club has not been convinced.

Real Madrid decided to temporarily bring Kepa into the squad in August. First goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tore his cruciate ligament during training, causing… the Royal had to switch quickly.

Real Madrid had not agreed to a purchase option, and will not try to permanently acquire Kepa. The 29-year-old closing post started his adventure in Madrid energetically, but disaster struck in November.

Kepa suffered a groin injury and by the time he was declared fit he had lost his place under the bar to Andriy Lunin. Real's staff also thinks Kepa is 'too injury-prone'.

He will return to Chelsea next summer, the club that took him over from Athletic Club de Bilbao for 80 million euros in 2018. The Blues However, they are not interested in the most expensive goalkeeper of all time and want to sell him next summer.

Chelsea has their goalkeeper guild in order with Robert Sánchez and Djordje Petrovic and will have to sell Kepa to retain a transfer fee for him. He has a contract with Chelsea until mid-2025.

Due to his failed adventure at Real Madrid, it does not seem that he will participate in the 2024 European Championship in Germany. David Raya, Unai Simón and Álex Remiro are preferred by national coach Luis de la Fuente.
