Brahim Díaz faces a second season as AC Milan mercenary. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reveals via Twitter that a purchase option of 25 million euros is attached to the rental deal with Real Madrid. The Royal does have the option to buy Díaz back from the Italian superpower for around thirty million euros in the future. Spanish media recently reported that Real would only agree to a deal including a buy option and buyback clause.

The attacking midfielder was acquired by Real in January 2019 for a transfer fee of 17 million euros from Manchester City. Under then coach Zinedine Zidane, Díaz hardly got to play, partly due to the fierce competition in the midfield in Madrid. In September last year, AC Milan offered a solution by renting him for a season from Real. He finished the 2020/21 season with 7 goals and 4 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.

Díaz already said in May that he feels very happy at AC Milan, where his lease officially expires on June 30. “I feel very much at home here,” said the Italian media last month. “This is a great city and so is the club. I thought it was fantastic that the fans appreciate my game so much, and I would love to pay them back. As I’ve always said, Milan is number one, the team is the most important thing,” said the only 21-year-old midfielder, who is detained in Madrid until mid-2025.

According to Romano, AC Milan is also strengthening other positions within the squad. Álvaro Odriozola, like Real’s Díaz contract player, is reportedly a serious option as a backup to the right-back position. Trainer Stefano Pioli is, however, very satisfied with first choice Diogo Dalot, so it remains to be seen whether AC Milan will actually make an offer to Real for Odriozola.
