Martin Odegaard opted for a temporary move to Arsenal midway through last season, as Zinedine Zidane refused to allow him playing time at Real Madrid. However, it appears that the Norwegian midfielder will not be extending his stay in north London. Ödegaard wants to go for his chances at The Royal, now that Zidane has passed the baton to Carlo Ancelotti.

“Real Madrid have made it clear that they want to bring me back,” degaard said in an interview with the Norwegian TV channel TV2. “It is therefore logical that I will join again when the preparations for the new season begin. It is of course a dream to come out for that club. I have been associated with Real for more than six years now and the goal remains to be there.” I just want to play weekly, I have always made that clear,” said the playmaker, who has not yet spoken with Ancelotti about the 2021/22 season.

“No, there has been no personal contact yet. But I talk very regularly with people from Real and the contact is therefore very good. I currently have a good overview of what is going on,” concludes the optimistic Ödegaard. The midfielder loaned to Arsenal would love to play with Kylian Mbappe next season. “That would be great, yes. The more top players Real can attract, the better it is for the club. So why shouldn’t that be possible?”

Defense Central managed to report at the end of May that Real had set the asking price for Ödegaard at sixty million euros. Arsenal hope to hire him for another year, but the player himself seems to have a different plan. Ödegaard, with a continuous contract until mid-2023 in the Spanish capital, joined the Gunners to 2 goals and as many assists in 20 appearances. He was previously loaned by Real to Real Sociedad.
