Jesse Marsch is the new head coach of RB Leipzig, the number two in the Bundesliga announced on Thursday morning. The 47-year-old coach from the United States will succeed Julian Nagelsmann after this season, who signed a multi-year contract with Bayern Munich earlier this week. Marsch signed a two-year contract in Leipzig and will officially start his activities on 1 July die Roten Bullen.

Erik ten Hag was also mentioned in various media as a possible successor to Nagelsmann. However, Leipzig’s technical management teamed up with Marsch. The Salzburg native has a history at the club as an assistant coach. As the right hand of former trainer Ralf Rangnick, he achieved third place in the Bundesliga and the cup final in the 2018/19 season. Each time in his coaching career, Marsch was associated with New York Red Bulls for over three years. In 2015, he was named Manager of the Year in Major League Soccer.
