PSV can also count on Yvon Mvogo next season. It Eindhovens Dagblad and Football International reported that RB Leipzig’s option to bring the 27-year-old Swiss goalkeeper back expired last night. Those Roten Bullen would have tried to sell Mvogo, but interested clubs hiccuped at the asking price of five million euros. RB Leipzig paid the same amount in the summer of 2017 to take over Mvogo from Young Boys.

As a result, RB Leipzig did not use the option to bring back Mvogo. This option ran until July 16, but PSV heard nothing from Germany and can therefore also have the Swiss goalkeeper next season. His situation has changed, however, because PSV took over Joël Drommel from FC Twente and as it looks now he will be the first goalkeeper in Eindhoven next season.

Mvogo does not have to count on a lot of playing time for Germany either. Peter Gulácsi is the undisputed first goalkeeper at RB Leipzig and behind him the number two of the past Bundesliga season has Josep Martínez at his disposal. Mvogo’s contract with RB Leipzig will run until mid-2023 and for that reason the German club would probably have liked to get rid of him, because now he threatens to end up in his last contract year next season.

In the meantime, his market value will not normally increase if he has little time to play next season. In the past season, Mvogo, who was hired from RB Leipzig for two seasons, made 43 official games for PSV. The people of Eindhoven therefore do not have to look for a new goalkeeper. During the training camp in Germany, young goalkeepers Vincent Müller and Aron van Lare had to compete with Mvogo as he was still on holiday after participating in the European Championship without playing with Switzerland last month.
