Ralf Rangnick has found a new club. The former trainer who left the Red Bull group last year is going to work at Lokomotiv Moscow. The Russian club announced the arrival of 63-year-old Rangnick on Tuesday and writes that the German will start as head of sports and development. Rangnick has signed a contract for three seasons with last season’s number three in the Russian league.

Rangnick will be involved in a wide range of activities at Lokomotiv, including strategic planning and youth academy. The Russian club is very pleased with the arrival of Rangnick. “He is one of the best specialists in the world in football education and player development, building a system to work on professional growth and motivation for young footballers,” reads the club’s website.

As a trainer, Rangnick is known for his work at Schalke 04, TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, among others. He was most successful at Schalke, winning the German Cup in the 2010/11 season and the German Super Cup in 2011. In June 2012, Rangnick signed a contract with the Austrian Red Bull Salzburg. He was given the position of sporting director, while he took on compatriot Roger Schmidt as trainer. Subsequently, Rangnick was retained for a number of years for the Red Bull group and he worked for RB Leipzig for several years.

In recent weeks, his name has been associated with a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Schalke. The German is regarded as the architect of the modern football empire and propelled both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig up in various functions. After his departure from Leipzig, he seemed to start working at AC Milan in a double function, but that collaboration ended at the last minute last summer. His name was also associated with Germany’s national coach, but the German Football Association chose Hansi Flick.
