Bart Ramselaar has the wish to make a transfer abroad after the current season, he says in conversation with Football International† The 25-year-old FC Utrecht midfielder emphasizes that he is ready for a new challenge to gain new experiences. Ramselaar still has a contract in Utrecht until 2023, which means that the club will have to sell him this summer to prevent a transfer-free departure.

Ramselaar has been working on his second period with the Domstedelingen since 2019, after he was previously active there from 2010 to 2016. In the latter year, Ramselaar made the step to PSV for more than four million euros, but the Amersfoorter was never undisputed in Eindhoven. Ramselaar would like to go abroad for a new step. “I’ve always had a strong foreign dream”, he is open about his wishes.

In the winter transfer period, Millwall wanted to attract Ramselaar, but the club from England did not come to an agreement with FC Utrecht. Coming summer seems to be one of the last opportunities for FC Utrecht to earn something from the attacking midfielder. “This summer a few players are likely to leave on a free transfer. The club management naturally wants to prevent that from happening a second time,” Ramselaar explains. “At the moment I still represent a certain transfer value, partly due to my good season. So it is a good time for FC Utrecht to sell me. I am 25 years old and ambitious.” Ramselaar has scored 9 times in 26 Eredivisie matches this season, by far his highest production ever.

Last winter, a Chinese club became concrete for Ramselaar, but FC Utrecht’s youth product did not like that adventure. “Of course there are offers that make you think: I really can’t refuse them. I was shocked when I saw the amounts, I won’t lie about that. However, it is not my intention to go to such a competition now”, he elaborates. Ramselaar prefers a step to a top competition in Europe. “Whether it’s Spain, Italy, England, France, Germany or Belgium. That’s what I hope for. A sub-topper in a great competition or the top six in Belgium. Just something new. I also want to discover a different competition, play in other stadiums.”
