Internazionale has also won its second league game of the season. The reigning champion of Italy was 1-3 too strong for Hellas Verona on Friday evening. Inter fell behind in Verona by a goal from Ivan Ilic, but brushed that off in the second half. Joaquín Correa, who came over from Lazio, made an absolute dream debut, scoring two goals as a substitute.

At Inter, Stefan de Vrij had a basic place as usual. Denzel Dumfries started – just like last week in the 4-0 home game against Genoa – on the reserve bench and for now has to tolerate Matteo Darmian in the right back position. Unlike last week, Dumfries received no playing minutes from trainer Simone Inzaghi against Hellas Verona. In the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi of Verona, Inter had a poor start, because after fifteen minutes of play there was a deficit on the scoreboard. A pass from goalkeeper Samir Handanovic did not reach Marcelo Brozovic, from which former NAC Breda mercenary Ivan Ilic took advantage. The midfielder outwitted Handanovic with a watched marker.

Despite an opportunity for Nicolò Barella, it took until shortly after the break for Inter to repair the early damage. A long throw-in from Ivan Perisic was extended thanks in part to Edin Dzeko, allowing Lautaro Martínez to work the ball against the ropes in the goal mouth. Via Martínez and Alessandro Bastoni, Inter then had opportunities to seize the lead, but the winning goal was delayed until shortly before the end.

With 74 minutes on the clock, Inzaghi brought in Correa, who had been taken over from Lazio in a €30 million deal, to replace Martínez and the debutant needed nine minutes to score his first goal. Correa dropped a cross from Darmian on his head and sent the ball to the far right corner, out of reach of goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò. With a hit shot from the edge of the penalty area, Correa also determined the final score at 1-3 in injury time.
