The name of Fabio Blanco is on PSV’s wish list for the winter transfer window, his agent confirms to the German branch of Goal. The seventeen-year-old Spanish wing attacker was taken over from Valencia by Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, but is not in the plans of trainer Oliver Glasner in Germany. For that reason, Blanco may temporarily leave Eintracht Frankfurt at short notice.

The signing of Blanco was labeled a ‘coup’ in the transfer market for Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. The youth international of Spain was in possession of an expiring contract with Valencia and Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid, among others, were eager to bring in Blanco on a free transfer. It was a major setback for Valencia that Blanco left on a free transfer. He was on the Under-19 team of loose Che as one of the greatest talents.

Blanco has been compared in position and characteristics to Ferran Torres, who was sold by Valencia to Manchester City for €25m last year. Like Torres, Blanco went through Valencia’s youth academy, although the Manchester City attacker did play in the Spanish club’s first team. Blanco left Valencia behind for his debut in the main force and demanded a clear plan from his new club. His choice ultimately fell on Eintracht Frankfurt, partly because he was promised that he would immediately get a chance at the main force.

Blanco exchanged Valencia for Frankfurt with his family and hired a teacher to quickly master the German language, but quickly realized that the promises would not come true. Markus Krösche had succeeded Fredi Bobic as sporting director in the meantime and had little to do with the promises made to Blanco. Krösche and trainer Glasner believe that Blanco should be brought slowly and carefully. For that reason, he has never been in the match selection of Eintracht Frankfurt and is not registered for the Europa League, something he had to learn through the media.

For example, Blanco trains with the first selection of Eintracht Frankfurt, but because the club does not have a second team, he has to play his matches (two goals in four matches) in the Under-19. Due to the state of affairs, a winter departure is obvious and PSV is currently the main candidate to temporarily bring him in. There are still three – as yet unknown – clubs in the market for Blanco, whose contract with Eintracht Frankfurt runs until mid-2023.
