According to the PSV, Eindhoven Daily Newspaper 'desperate attempts' to sign Madi Monamay from Bayer Leverkusen. According to club watcher Rik Elfrink, the Eindhoven club has good credentials to bring in the eighteen-year-old central defender from Belgium, although there are more interested parties.

In addition to PSV, RSC Anderlecht, Club Brugge and KRC Genk are also in the market for Monamay, who has a contract with Leverkusen until mid-2025 and has represented various Belgian youth teams in recent years.

At the end of May it was already announced that PSV wants to strengthen itself with Monamay for the coming season. The young Belgian is listed as a top talent at Leverkusen. Monamay would prefer to leave for a Belgian or Dutch club with a second team that plays in professional football.

PSV will be playing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with a reserve team, which means it is certainly possible that Monamay will choose Eindhoven. The Leverkusen defender wants to gain experience and not end up on the bench at the German champions.

Monamay also does not want to end up on the back foot at a European top club. He does train with the A-selection of trainer Xabi Alonso, but a starting place in the first team of Leverkusen is not a possibility for the time being.

PSV has called in Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink to present Monamay with an attractive plan. The former striker is involved in recruiting talent for the reserve team at PSV. The preference goes to players who can eventually make the step to PSV 1.

Transfer fee

Leverkusen is according to the Eindhoven Daily Newspaper not looking for a hefty transfer fee for Monamay. The German champions are however looking for a hefty sell-on clause. It remains to be seen whether Leverkusen and PSV can reach an agreement.
