PSV hopes to strengthen itself with Madi Monamay, writes Rik Elfrink on behalf of it Eindhovens Dagblad. The only eighteen-year-old central defender has to be taken over from Bayer Leverkusen, where he has another year under contract.

Monamay is seen as a great talent and initially seems to be eligible for the promising team. Belgium is also interested in the young defender.

Monamay already regularly trains with the A-selection at Leverkusen. He has not yet made his debut in the main squad. PSV wants to buy out the man's contract that runs until next year, Elfrink reports.

As a youth player, Monamay joined the youth academy of the Belgian KVK Tienen-Hageland. Via KRC Genk he ended up in the youth academy of Bayer Leverkusen in 2022, where he is now under contract.

Monamay has Belgian nationality and was, among other things, captain of the Belgian Under 18 team. The defender is 1 meter 85 tall and can play in both positions in the centre.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is the one who keeps contacts with Monamay warm and must ultimately ensure that the young Belgian chooses PSV. The requested sum is not expected to be too high.

Leverkusen will reportedly try to negotiate a resale percentage, which means that the German national champions can earn money from the youth product in the future.
