PSV has found a new trainer for the Under-18s with Jürgen Dirkx, it knows Eindhovens Dagblad to report. The 45-year-old coach will therefore be retained for the club, after he started working as an individual coach in the youth academy in January of this year. Dirkx succeeds Ruud van Nistelrooij at the highest youth team, who will be responsible for the reserves team from next season.

Dirkx previously acted as assistant coach to Mark van Bommel at the first team, but was dismissed in December 2019 due to disappointing results. In January of this year, the club decided to bring him back as an individual coach in the youth academy. In the Under-18s he will stand on his own two feet as a trainer for the first time. He is probably assisted by Stijn Schaars and Wilfred Bouma, who are currently also active in the youth academy.

Dirkx therefore prefers a longer stay at PSV over a possible transfer to the Bundesliga, as it was announced on Wednesday that Van Bommel is high on the wish list at VfL Wolfsburg. Van Bommel would have had a first interview in the autumn at the current number three of the Bundesliga, according to reports. BILD. The former midfielder is seen as the most important candidate to succeed Oliver Glasner. Van Bommel was previously associated with a transfer to Bayern Munich, but that vacancy has now been filled by Julian Nagelsmann.

At the beginning of this year it was announced that PSV had to look for a new trainer for the Under-18s, after Van Nistelrooij was transferred to the reserves team. Van Nistelrooij will succeed Peter Uneken in the Kitchen Champion Division, who announced that he wanted to take a new step in his career. Uneken is currently working on his second season with the PSV promises team and has managed to transfer many players to the main squad in recent years.
