Madi Monamay can officially call himself a PSV player. The Belgian youth international, originally from Bayer Leverkusen, passed the medical examination at the champions from Eindhoven without any problems. After that, the only eighteen-year-old Monamay signed a three-year contract with PSV.

“We followed Madi before he went to Bayer Leverkusen. We have watched him several times and are more than convinced of his abilities. He is a modern, versatile footballer with a lot of potential. We are confident that he will seize the opportunities at PSV to take the next steps,” says technical manager Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

“I am very happy that everything has been finalised and I want to start as soon as possible. I had a good feeling about PSV from the start and I consider it an honour to wear the shirt”, said the overjoyed Monamay after signing the contract.

“I want to show my qualities and join the first team as soon as possible,” the new signing adds. Monamay will initially join Jong PSV, where he will be prepared for the new season in the coming weeks.

Although Leverkusen is reportedly not seeking a transfer fee, the club is willing to negotiate a substantial resale percentage, the Eindhoven Daily Newspaper recently. Whether PSV has agreed to this and what the amount is, has not been disclosed by the Eindhoven residents.

Early July, club watcher Rik Elfrink reported that PSV was very interested in Monamay. RSC Anderlecht, Club Brugge and KRC Genk were also in the market for Monamay, who was contracted to Leverkusen until mid-2025 and has represented various youth teams in Belgium in recent years. PSV is now ahead of the competition.

Monamay did not want to end up on the back burner at a European top club. He did train with the A-selection of coach Xabi Alonso, but a starting place in the first team of Leverkusen was not an option.

PSV brought in Vennegoor of Hesselink to present Monamay with an attractive plan. The former striker is involved in recruiting talent for the reserve team at PSV. The preference goes to players who can eventually make the step to PSV 1.
