Sávio can officially call himself a Manchester City player. The Brazilian international comes over from Girona and signs a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Sávio was one of the absolute stars of Girona last season, who competed for the Spanish national championship for a long time. Although that ultimately proved to be a bridge too far, the Catalans did qualify for the Champions League.

Last season, Savio scored nine goals and provided ten assists, and also impressed with his occasionally inimitable play. Troyes, who loaned him to fellow City Group club Girona, will receive a minimum of €25 million and a maximum of €40 million for Savio.

Sávio was still stabled at PSV by Troyes in the 2022/23 season, but that was never a success for several reasons. Although the twenty-year-old Brazilian regularly showed his qualities, especially with Jong PSV, he also regularly did not play due to injuries and international commitments with Brazil's youth teams during the season.

“I am so happy to join Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners,” Sávio told the club's website. “Everyone knows that City are the best team in the world at the moment, so to be here is great.”

“I am excited about the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the best coaches ever, and someone I know will help me become even better. I had a great time in Spain and I am looking forward to a new challenge: playing in the Premier League and alongside some of the best players in the world.”

“I can't wait to meet the fans and my new team-mates and hopefully be part of bringing more success to City.” City director Txiki Begiristain is also delighted. “What he did at Girona last season was incredible and he is already a fully-fledged Brazil international. He will play a big part for City this season.”
