Shurandy Sambo is about to extend his contract with PSV. The twenty-year-old defender has, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad reached an oral agreement on a longer stay. Sambo has been sidelined for some time due to a cruciate ligament injury, but PSV nevertheless maintains confidence in the defender.

Sambo made his debut last season in the last round of the Eredivisie in the first team of PSV against FC Utrecht (1-1). Fifteen minutes before the end, the right back came in for Armando Obispo. Since then, the counter has been stuck on that one duel in the main squad of the Eindhoven team, since fate struck this season after the first round of Jong PSV in the Kitchen Champion Division. Due to a cruciate ligament injury during a training, Sambo has been rehabilitating for three quarters of a year.

It is the second time that the PSV defender has been confronted with a cruciate ligament injury. Four years ago, the same injury also meant that he had to face a long rehabilitation. However, PSV has expressed its confidence in Sambo in the form of a two-year contract. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad only the last details still need to be finalized, while the club is also in talks with twenty-year-old defender Mees Kreekels to break open his contract, according to the newspaper.
