Latest update:

The 2023/24 season is over. PSV has become national champion, Feyenoord will also go straight into the Champions League as number two and FC Twente qualified for the preliminary rounds of the billion-dollar ball. AZ enters the group stage of the Europa League, while Ajax still has to prove itself during the qualification of that tournament. The editorial staff of Football zone put together a team with eleven absolute stars from the Eredivisie!

All Eredivisie players had to have at least 1,800 playing minutes (twenty full matches) to their name to be eligible for the VZ Team of the Year. The results of an editorial vote then determined the next team.

Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall takes a seat under the crossbar. The German sees a defense in front of him consisting of two Feyenoord players and two PSV players. Lutsharel Geertruida is the right back, Olivier Boscagli and Dávid Hancko form the central duo and Sergiño Dest takes place on the left flank.

The editorial staff of Football zone opts for a four-man midfield, in which Jerdy Schouten is the controller. Joey Veerman and Quinten Timber are the central midfielders, while Sem Steijn was the best performing 'number 10' this season.

Up front, Vangelis Pavlidis and Luuk de Jong keep competitors such as Santiago Gimenez and Brian Brobbey at an appropriate distance. After Sunday, the strikers of AZ and PSV can call themselves shared top scorers in the Eredivisie, with no fewer than 29 goals at the highest level in the Netherlands.

Peter Bosz has been unanimously chosen as Football Zone Trainer of the Year. The sixty-year-old PSV coach guided his team to no fewer than 91 points in the Eredivisie this season, something the Eindhoven team had never achieved in 68 years of Eredivisie football.

The VZ Team of the Year:

Lars Unnerstall (FC Twente); Lutsharel Geertruida (Feyenoord), Olivier Boscagli (PSV), Dávid Hancko (Feyenoord), Sergiño Dest (PSV); Jerdy Schouten (PSV); Joey Veerman (PSV), Quinten Timber (Feyenoord); Sem Steijn (FC Twente); Vangelis Pavlidis (AZ), Luuk de Jong (PSV).
