The day after the elimination in the play-offs of the Champions League against Benfica (0-0), PSV managed to tie Noni Madueke to the club longer. The nineteen-year-old attacker has signed a contract until mid-2025. That means an extension of one year for Madueke.

With this, PSV is taking a new step to keep Madueke out of the hands of the European top clubs, who have been linked to the English wing striker all summer. Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Tottenham Hotspur would like to get the PSV attacker back, but that the Eindhoven players absolutely do not want to cooperate. Madueke was hijacked by PSV in 2018 from the youth academy of the Spurs.

Director of football affairs John de Jong is happy that Madueke will stay longer in Eindhoven. “There was a lot of interest from foreign clubs in Noni, but we wanted to connect Noni to PSV even longer,” said De Jong. “After good talks with Noni and his family, we have succeeded in extending his contract until 2025. As a club, we are very happy that Noni will stay and we look forward to a successful collaboration.”

Madueke broke through in the first team of the Eindhoven team last January and has been one of the supporting forces in Roger Schmidt’s team since this season. The winger has six goals and one assist after nine official matches. Madueke was unable to prevent PSV from being eliminated on Tuesday evening on the way to the group stage of the Champions League. The right winger was taken to the side against Benfica after seventy minutes, to the incomprehension of Wesley Sneijder and Jan Boskamp, among others.
