Cody Gakpo has to miss the World Cup qualifier against Turkey. The left winger of PSV, who had a base place in the last two games for the the Dutch, has suffered an injury. PSV expects Gakpo to be out for about a week. Nathan Aké has also dropped out of the Dutch national team. The Manchester City defender is missing on Tuesday due to private circumstances.

The KNVB announces that Gakpo already sustained his injury on Saturday in the match against Montenegro (4-0 win). The left striker scored a brilliant goal in the 76th minute by shooting the ball into the far corner from the left tip of the penalty area. It marked the first goal in the Dutch for the attacker. A minute later, Gakpo was taken off the field and replaced by Steven Bergwijn.

Rik Elfrink from the Eindhovens Dagblad adds that the initial forecast is that Gakpo will be out for about a week. Due to privacy rules, the nature of the injury may not be reported. It is very doubtful whether Gakpo can play with PSV at AZ on Saturday. This is followed by the opening match in the Europa League at home against Real Sociedad for the Eindhoven team on Thursday. The following Sunday follows the first top match in the Eredivisie against Feyenoord. “The fact that PSV reports that he is training based on the pain means that it is not a serious injury,” Elfrink reports.

Aké has left the the Dutch training camp in consultation with national coach Louis van Gaal. The center defender already did not seem to have to count on playing time in the Dutch national team. Van Gaal already announced on Saturday that Virgil van Dijk will return as a left central defender against Turkey. Furthermore, Stefan de Vrij and Matthijs de Ligt are also higher in the pecking order than Aké for the time being.
