PSV wants to receive 200,000 euros for Nick Viergever, reports Feyenoord Transfermarkt Friday evening. Feyenoord is interested in the 32-year-old defender and hoped to be able to take him over transfer-free despite an ongoing contract, wrote RTV Rijnmond earlier this week, but PSV is not cooperating with that. However, the requested transfer fee seems affordable for Feyenoord.

Viergever, whose contract in Eindhoven continues for another year, can become the third player ever after Ronald Koeman and Ruud Geels to have played for Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. He would become the first player ever to play for Ajax, PSV, AZ and Feyenoord. Feyenoord also hopes to present a new, foreign (wing) attacker in the final week of the transfer market.

Viergever was taken over by PSV in 2018 transfer-free from Ajax. He did not miss a league game that first season and also played almost everything in the following 2019/20 year. Since the arrival of Roger Schmidt, however, the routine has had to make do with a supporting role, because the trainer usually chooses Olivier Boscagli. Since this season, Armando Obispo has also been above Viergever in the pecking order at PSV. The latter is on 104 official matches for the Eindhoven team, in which he scored 3 times and provided 1 assist.

Feyenoord saw three center defenders leave on a free transfer this summer with Eric Botteghin, Uros Spajic and Sven van Beek. The Rotterdammers brought in a partner for Marcos Senesi with Gernot Trauner, who came over from LASK for one million euros. Viergever will be seen as a competitor for the two center defenders. With Ramon Hendriks, Feyenoord has another young defender in the center back. Lutsharel Geertruida, who is on his way back from injury, could also play there.
