PSV and Inter have agreed on the transfer of Denzel Dumfries, Fabrizio Romano reports on Thursday morning. Both clubs have been negotiating with each other for some time about the transfer of the fullback, but until now, supply and demand have been too far apart. The transfer expert reports that there is an oral agreement between the clubs and Dumfries also agrees. The Italian club is planning a medical examination in the coming days to finalize the deal.

Dumfries enjoyed a longer holiday after the European Championship and was initially given the space to make a transfer together with Donyell Malen. The striker already moved to Borussia Dortmund, but it remained quiet for a long time around Dumfries. Inter had been the main contender for weeks and it was recently reported that if Romelu Lukaku were to make the switch to Chelsea for 115 million euros, Dumfries would be at the top of the wish list. The transfer of Lukaku seems to be closed one of these days and so there is also the green light for the arrival of Dumfries, or so it sounds in Italy.

Marcel Brands’ Everton was also interested, but could not buy players. According to Italian sources, Inter reported to PSV with twelve million euros, but that offer was rejected by the people of Eindhoven. PSV wanted, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad an amount of fifteen to twenty million euros. There is no intention in Eindhoven to cooperate in a rental with an option to buy. It is not yet known how much Inter will ultimately transfer for Dumfries.

PSV was quite upset about the situation around Dumfries during the negotiations. It Eindhovens Dagblad wrote earlier in the day that PSV had ended up in a situation in which it had to be considered whether Dumfries should be registered for the last preliminary round of the Champions League against Benfica. Earlier, the club already planned a meeting with the the Dutch international to discuss the situation. Dumfries trained separately from the group after returning from his holiday.
