Paris Saint-Germain has found the way up. The team of trainer Thomas Tuchel was 0-2 too strong for Stade Reims on Sunday evening, where Kaj Sierhuis remained on the bench for ninety minutes, and thus recorded the third victory in Ligue 1 in a row. The defeats on the first two days in the French league seem to have been forgotten again. PSG rises to seventh place in the ranking, with nine points from five matches, thanks to the three-pointer, and will play against Angers on Friday evening.

It was all PSG that hit the clock in the first half. While Stade Reims could hardly do anything on the offensive, with Nathanaël Mbuku as the exception, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Ángel Di Maria frolicked and Mauro Icardi signed after nine minutes remarkably enough for the only goal in the first half. After a wonderful individual action by Mbappé, the Argentinian got the ball played hard, but he got the ball under control and then shot the ball diagonally into the left corner behind goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic: 0-1.

Despite the creativity in the attack, PSG did not succeed in entering the halftime with a wider margin. Neymar’s best chance of scoring 0-2 came from a free kick in the 37th minute: the Brazilian’s effort narrowly went down the wrong side of the post. In the second half PSG remained in charge and the percentage of possession rose to more than 65 percent. The deserved 0-2 could not fail and fell after more than an hour of play. Mbappé advanced, went on a lightning-fast one-two with Julian Draxler and from his pass Icardi could easily take care of his second goal in the Stade Auguste-Delaune: 0-2.

PSG was still looking for a third goal in the north-east of France, but the lack of precision played tricks on Tuchel’s team. Mbappé hit the ball wrong after a fantastic pass from Pablo Sarabia and not much later the Spaniard also shot the ball over the goal. Sierhuis stayed on the bench with the home team, but Arber Zeneli came in for Mbuku after 65 minutes.
