In the investigation into possible racism of Christophe Galtier, the French police have taken the Paris Saint-Germain trainer into pre-trial detention. This has been announced by the public prosecutor in France. The case has been going on since 2021, when Galtier was still a trainer of OGC Nice.

The public prosecutor in France reports that Galtier and his son John Valovic-Galtier are currently in pre-trial detention. In the next 24 hours it should become clear whether the duo will be released or remain in detention. Galtier has come under heavy fire in France. The PSG coach has been embarrassed by a leaked email sent by Julien Fournier to OGC Nice management towards the end of the 2021/22 season. The former sporting director accuses his former colleague of serious racist statements. The mail came into the hands of journalist Romain Molina and was shown in the program l’After Foot by RMC Sports.

The email describes a scene from August 9, 2021, at the start of the new season. “He told me that I had to take into account the essence of the city and that we couldn’t have so many blacks and Muslims on the team,” said Fournier. “He (Galtier, ed.) told me: ‘Yesterday I went to the restaurant and everyone was all over me that we have a team full of blacks.'” In April, when it became known that the police had launched an investigation, the 56-year-old coach the allegations.
