Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on Thursday evening after the draw for the group stage of the Champions League clarified the possible arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and the possible departure of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. The French club are reportedly willing to let Mbappe go to Real Madrid at the right price in the closing stages of the summer transfer market, and Ronaldo has been named as his possible successor. The chairman talked to BeIN Sports however, a line through both scenarios.
French media and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano assured on Thursday that Real Madrid had made a better offer for Mbappe. The top Spanish club are said to be willing to pay 170 million euros and a further 10 million euros in variable bonuses for the one-year-long contract. “I’m going to be very clear, everyone is aware of our position. And that is a clear position and we are not going to change that,” emphasized Al-Khelaïfi, who is clearly against a departure of the French international.
However, technical director Leonardo gave the impression this week that Mbappe can be picked up at the right price. “It seems clear to me that Mbappe wants to go to Real Madrid and we will not stop him, only on our terms,” the Brazilian assured. French media therefore questioned the different positions of Leonardo and Al-Khelaifi on Thursday evening. Mbappe wants how. to Real Madrid this summer if the clubs reach an agreement or next summer if he is free on a free transfer.
Al-Khelaïfi was also clear about Ronaldo on Thursday evening. “Making Ronaldo has never even been discussed,” emphasized the top sports director. The Portugal star looks set to leave Juventus this week and Manchester City is his most likely destination, despite his past with Manchester United.
