The Japanese computer game manufacturer Konami is taking a different path with the popular computer game Pro Evolution Soccer. The online football game now bears the worldwide name eFootball, as was announced on Wednesday. This new name was already used in some parts of the world. The football game can now be played for free for everyone and is currently only available as a digital download.

The successor to Pro Evolution Soccer will be available this fall and can be used on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam. Versions for Android and iOS will follow at a later stage. Konami has not yet made any announcements about a version for Nintendo Switch. The aim is to allow users to choose an opponent on any platform with eFootball in the course of 2022. In addition, the football players must be able to move better on the field by means of Motion Matching.

Konami emphasizes that players on the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles can expect better graphics, although details are not yet available. A total of nine clubs are available for local matches, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Later that year there will be a Team Building Mode with the option to select clubs. This is probably comparable to MyClub, an earlier PES mode that is comparable to FIFA Ultimate Team. In addition, there are plans for a Match Pass System, what if a battle pass can be classified.

eFootball will not be completely free, by the way. Konami works on a free-to-play principle, but certain parts in the game will have to be paid by users. The computer game manufacturer is going for a ‘fair and balanced experience for everyone’, it became clear on Wednesday. However, it is not yet known which game components will cost money.
