Barcelona suffered a loss of points in LaLiga on Monday evening. For a long time it looked like Granada would leave the Camp Nou with three points in their pocket, but in the last minute of regular time, Ronald Araújo equalized: 1-1. Luuk de Jong made his debut in LaLiga as a substitute; Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong and Sergiño Dest had a starting spot. Occupy after five rounds los Azulgrana with eight points the seventh place in the ranking, while Granada is seventeenth with three points.
Koeman had not made room in the starting eleven for Luuk de Jong, as the coach in the vanguard preferred the eighteen-year-old right winger Yusuf Demir and the returning Philippe Coutinho. Furthermore, the Catalan defense was remarkably youthful with an average age of 24.3 years. Granada shot out of the starting blocks whirling and they gave Koeman a headache after 85 seconds. Sergio Escudero had a measured pass from the left to Duarte, who was completely released at the far post and was able to nod in through the ground: 0-1. From that moment on, Granada immediately parked the bus and it was Barcelona’s turn. Sergi Roberto came close to equalizing in the nineteenth minute, but his placed shot from the edge of the box landed on the crossbar. Barcelona could not convince in the remainder of the first company and great opportunities were not forthcoming.
Little changed in the game in the second half. Granada defended solidly, while Barcelona lacked creativity to break the status quo. In the 55th minute, Araújo did his bit with a header, which, however, disappeared a meter wide from Granada’s goal. Then Depay got a double chance. His first shot from within the penalty area was blocked by the sliding Monchu; the attempt that followed from the rebound was not powerful enough to surprise goalkeeper Luís Maximiano.
The biggest miss of the second half was noted by Luuk de Jong. After a corner from the left, he cleared within the five-meter area of Luis Milla, but the striker headed high over. In the end, Barcelona found the redeeming equalizer in the penultimate minute of regular time. After a combination between substitutes Gerard Piqué and Gavi, the latter gave a cross in the sixteen, which was nodded in by Araújo: 1-1.
