Yves Bissouma was arrested outside a Brighton nightclub on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. A video of the arrest was shared on social media on Wednesday evening. It is not officially known what he is suspected of, but The Times reports that a Brighton & Hove Albion player has been arrested for assault. His name cannot be mentioned in the English press for legal reasons.

Sussex police only confirm that a man in his twenties has been arrested along with a man in his forties. So it has not been officially confirmed that it is Bissouma, but in the video he appears to be the one who is being arrested. He wears the same shirt as recently in a photo on Instagram. The Sun concludes that it was indeed Bissouma who was arrested. The 25-year-old Brighton star, who over the summer has been linked to Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, was in town with a friend and was handcuffed by two police officers.

According to eyewitnesses, the two, who spent Wednesday at the police station, had been at the popular nightclub The Arch for several hours before an alleged incident occurred around 1:30 am. “Brighton & Hove Albion is aware that one of its players is assisting police in investigating an alleged act,” said a Brighton statement, further referring to the legal process. The Arch declined to comment. Bissouma came over from Lille in the summer of 2018 for around seventeen million euros and is a key player at the current number six in England.
