The police have now arrested the 31-year-old man from Almelo who punched Václav Cerny on Saturday evening, as they know TC Tubantia to report. The rioter is suspected of assaulting the FC Twente attacker. In the final phase of the derby between Heracles and Twente, which ended in 1-1, plastic beer glasses were also thrown to Cerny, among others. In total, the police made three arrests.

The other two arrests were for throwing fireworks and insulting officers. It was regularly restless during the duel in Almelo. The Heracles stadium speaker had to act several times and referee Sander van der Eijk even threatened to stop the derby. In the first half, one of the penalty areas was almost completely full with beer glasses, coming from the stands behind the goal. In recent matches, this part of the Erve Asito was used as a seating area for safety reasons.

Twente coach Ron Jans judged that atmosphere is always part of a derby. “But we have to get rid of those excesses”, it sounded at the subsequent press conference. “It cannot be that Vaclav gets a blow and the goal net is pulled during the game. That is unheard of.” Goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall shared his coach’s opinion. “I don’t have a problem with that beer. But with lighters and things like that they should just leave it, that’s really not possible. Those hard things, that shouldn’t be.”

Cerny received an apology from Heracles director Rob Toussaint after the fraught derby. “This is really not possible and is a big stain on the evening. We will quickly find out who it was, of course we will not tolerate this. This is not possible and this is not allowed,” said the disappointed driver of the club from Almelo.
