Lionel Messi will make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain next Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino announced to ESPN. The Argentinian star has been found fit enough to make his first minutes in the shirt of the Parisians in the away game against Stade Reims.

“Leo has had a very good week of training,” said Pochettino. “There is still a long week of training coming up, but we think he will be able to make his first minutes.” Messi had been back in Barcelona for the past few days to do some business and spend time with his children. He returned to Paris on Monday and reported to Camp des Loges to resume training at PSG.

On Monday, Argentina national coach Lionel Scaloni announced his selection for the next three World Cup qualifiers. Messi, as is known, wants to go to the World Cup in Qatar and is therefore in the selection, just like his teammates Leandro Paredes and ngel Di María. Ajax players Nicolás Tagliafico and Lisandro Martínez are also present. The two defenders were also in the Argentine squad that won the Copa América this summer. Argentina will play against Venezuela, Brazil (both away) and Bolivia (home) in September.
