Tim Pieters is working on his last season with FC Utrecht, the club reports on Tuesday. The attacker of Jong FC Utrecht chooses, in consultation with FC Utrecht, for his study over an extra contract year. Pieters returned to FC Utrecht last summer, where he also played in the youth academy between 2014 and 2016.

Pieters played thirty games for Young FC Utrecht in the Kitchen Champion Division. In this he scored five goals and gave six assists. “I am very grateful that I got a chance in professional football at FC Utrecht last year,” says Pieters about his choice. “But in the meantime I struggled with the choice I had to make between my studies and professional football.”

“I was very happy that FC Utrecht wanted to continue with me and have exercised my option, but my doubts remained. This doubt was partly because I saw little prospect of playing minutes in the first team in the short term and saw more chance of success in my social career. After several conversations with the trainer and Jordy (Zuidam, technical director, ed.), I made the choice to fully commit to my studies. ”

“It was a difficult choice, but I am happy with the experiences I have gained here and with the cooperation of FC Utrecht,” says Pieters. FC Utrecht took over the talent from amateur club USV Hercules last summer.
