Pierre van Hooijdonk sees the Dutch team becoming European champions. The analyst notes that the Dutch team is not going against them in Germany and therefore does not rule out a repeat of EURO 1988. At that time, the Netherlands won the European title on German soil, the only prize in the history of the Dutch team.

Van Hooijdonk will receive on Thursday evening Studio Football the question of which country will win the European Championship. “The Netherlands, I really think so,” said the former international of Oranje. “If you want to win a tournament, then a lot of things really have to go your way. You really have to be lucky.”

“And we can safely say that the Dutch team has nothing to complain about. Everything actually looks good,” said the hopeful Van Hooijdonk, who knows that the Dutch team must first deal with Turkey in the quarter finals.

“Turkey, a tough opponent. But if you say in advance: which of the seven quarter-finalists do you want to face, just choose one. Then we all choose Turkey, right?”, Van Hooijdonk describes the general feeling in the Netherlands.

“Then it would suddenly be an incredibly difficult team. You will have to be good yourself on Saturday. If you are not, then there is not enough left to surprise”, the former Oranje striker warns against underestimating the Turkish team.

The Dutch national team will face Turkey on Saturday evening in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024. In the Olympiastadion in Berlin, which is expected to be sold out, the ball will start rolling from 9 p.m.

The winner of the quarter-final duel will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either England or Switzerland. These countries will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Merkur Spiel Arena in Düsseldorf.
