Philippe Rommens is leaving the Eredivisie. The Belgian midfielder has decided to swap Go Ahead Eagles for the Hungarian top club Ferencváros, where Pascal Jansen has been in charge since this summer.

Rommens made the switch from TOP Oss to Go Ahead in the summer of 2021 and managed to develop into an important player in the team of the Deventer players. In total, he played 94 matches for the club, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists.

“Go Ahead Eagles would like to thank Philippe Rommens for his efforts in recent years and wishes him much success at his new club,” the club announced on its website. According to De Telegraaf, Go Ahead will receive more than one million euros for the Belgian, who was contracted to the club until mid-2025. Kowet.

Rommens' departure comes on the same day that René Hake was officially presented at Manchester United, where he will become one of the assistant coaches of manager Erik ten Hag. Hake has since been succeeded by Paul Simonis, who has signed a two-year contract.

Despite the departure of successful trainer Hake and mainstay Rommens, Go Ahead hopes to score high in the Conference League. In exactly two weeks, the Norwegian SK Brann, who impressed against AZ last season, will visit Deventer. A week later, the return match will follow on the west coast of Norway.

Go Ahead strengthened itself this summer with Mathis Suray, who came from FC Dordrecht, and Julius Dirksen, who came from FC Emmen. A big disappointment for Go Ahead is that the latter will definitely not be there in the two-part match with Brann.

Dirksen recently injured his knee in the practice match against Telstar. The injury is so serious that he has to undergo surgery and will be sidelined for at least six weeks. The start of the competition also seems to come too early for the 21-year-old from Amersfoort.
