Sevilla have failed to put Cádiz aside at home. The team of coach Julen Lopetegui took the lead early in the game with a goal from Youssef En-Nesyri, but saw the visitors come alongside in the second half thanks to a wonderful free kick from Lucas Pérez: 1-1. Sevilla is still not sure of a Champions League ticket, but as number two in LaLiga, they do have a seven point lead over number five Real Betis. Cádiz is one point away from the relegation spots and now has a two point lead over number eighteen Granada, who still have a duel due.

Sevilla took the lead early in the game because En-Nesyri cleverly headed in a corner from Papu Gómez through the inside of the post: 1-0. In the sixteenth minute, a tribute to Antonio Puerta took place. The Spaniard died in 2007 at the age of 22 from the consequences of a cardiac arrest. In a match for his club Sevilla, he collapsed on the field. The crowd clapped en masse for the former player from Sevilla.

It was then Cádiz who came close to equalizing, but Luis Hernández saw his effort turned by Jules Koundé after Bono completely missed a corner from the visitors. Erik Lamela tried to beat his compatriot on the other side by pulling in and shooting on target. Jeremias Ledesma came to the rescue. The game went up and down and Pérez saw the ball land in front of his feet and struck from close range. Bono was able to promote the bet to a corner with a great save. Gómez created danger just before half-time with a bang from the edge of the box, but his shot went straight at Bono. As a result, the home team went into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the game continued to go up and down without leading to great opportunities for either club for long. Koundé saw a tumble in the box being rewarded with a yellow card instead of a penalty. Lucas Pérez stood on the other side behind a free kick of 25 meters and curled the free kick beautifully through the bottom of the bar into the goal: 1-1. A few minutes after the equalizer, the visitors unsuccessfully claimed a penalty after the ball landed on Koundé’s arm. Sevilla were looking for the winning goal and came close three minutes before the end, but En-Nesyri couldn’t put his foot behind the ball well enough after a corner kick and saw his bet end up in the hands of Ledesma.
