Bayer Leverkusen has booked its second consecutive victory in the Bundesliga on Monday evening. Peter Bosz’s team was 3-1 too strong for FC Augburg in-house and has not lost a match after five match days. Bayer, which awaits a game with SC Freiburg next Sunday, can be found in fourth place in the German league with nine points.

FC Augsburg, with Jeffrey Gouweleeuw in the base, started the match well, but Heiko Herrlich’s team suffered a disappointment after fourteen minutes of play. After a corner, Lucas Alario headed the ball against the arm of Raphael Framberger and the ball went on the spot. The attacker took the eleven-meter kick: 1-0. Augsburg was clearly a different team after the goal against and could not clear the gap before half time.

The visitors looked better after the break. After preparatory work by Rubén Vargas, Daniel Caligiuri fired the ball into the short corner: 1-1. In the 66th minute, Bayer, where Daley Sinkgraven played ninety minutes, had bad luck in the completion. Moussa Diaby ran into Rafal Gikiewicz and Leon Bailey’s rebound ended on the aluminum. A few minutes later, Alario headed against the post.

Alario got his second goal sixteen minutes before the end. After a free kick by Nadiem Amiri, he headed the ball into the left corner: 2-1. Deep in extra time, Bayer made it 3-1 when Gikiewicz came forward with a corner. Bailey’s bet from the halfway line to the empty goal was not enough, after which Diaby was the fastest and the ball worked into it.
