Kenneth Perez questions the tactical skills of Ajax’s staff. While Karim El Ahmadi and Marciano Vink, among others, expressed a lot of criticism about the individual qualities of some players, Perez indicates that the technical staff is also failing enormously. The analyst leaves during This was the Weekend by ESPN know that he was shocked by the actions of the Amsterdammers.

“I think it’s very bad,” Perez looks back on the match between FC Twente and Ajax (3-1). “You can put very big question marks behind the purchases, but you can put very big question marks behind the tactical ability of Ajax’s staff. Or at least behind the staff’s ability to get the message across to the players. I have never seen anything like this from Ajax with pressure.”

Perez is shocked by the tactical inability that Ajax showed. “There are so many boys walking somewhere in the room and they have no idea where to walk. They also have no idea whether they should push through or wait. At one point (in the 52nd minute of play, ed.) six players are waiting in a row, while there is no pressure at all in midfield.”

“I blame the technical staff for that. I know that our Hedwiges Maduro has been ransomed because he has said some difficult tactical things,” Perez continues with a wink. “He was the new man and would take care of everything. I know that everyone says that training has only taken place twice, but it is simply the job of the Ajax staff to deal with many internationals. Then you simply train together less often.”

“Then it is even more important to use images and on the training field to make it clear to everyone how you apply pressure as a team,” the analyst concludes. “Today it was nothing to sneeze at, so do you think it’s strange that FC Twente played great?”
