The U21 team, trained by Michel Kreek through the promotion of John Heitinga to the first team, came no further than a 1-1 draw against Helmond Sport. Leader PEC Zwolle won 4-1 against TOP Oss and saw pursuer Heracles Almelo spill expensive points in Eindhoven. Peter Hyballa saw NAC Breda win 5-1 on his return.

VVV-Venlo – ADO The Hague 0-0
VVV was the better team in the early stages. After twenty minutes, Nick Venema, who was still the match winner against Jong PSV on Monday, seemed to score, but it was Luuk Koopmans who made the save. Later in the first half, Venema seemed to score again. However, it was Finn van Breemen who took the ball off the line. ADO came out of its shell a bit more after the break and via Joey Sleegers it was close to 0-1 halfway through the second half, but his header went wide. It was not the evening of Venema, who got into a promising position fifteen minutes before the end, but shot over the goal in the rebound. Therefore no goals on Friday evening in Venlo.

PEC Zwolle – TOP Oss 4-1
Younes Taha broke the spell for the list leader with a striking header after half an hour of play, after good preparatory work by Davy van den Berg. PEC was the better team, but saw TOP take a 1-1 halfway through the second half thanks to Rick Dekker. The leader straightened his back in the final phase and took the lead fifteen minutes before the end thanks to substitute Apostolos Vellios. A few minutes later, Lennart Thy put the ball over the goalkeeper for the 3-1. Dean Huiberts, another substitute, provided the final chord five minutes before the end on the instructions of Thy.

Helmond Sport – Young Ajax 1-1
In the early stages, Jaydon Banel bumped into Mike Havekotte and on the other side Arno van Keilegom saw his shot blocked. Just before the break, Jong Ajax came close to taking the lead twice. Havekotte, however, managed to save well on attempts by Kristian Hlynsson and Gabriel Misehouy. After an hour of play, the team from Amsterdam still took the lead. A free kick by Rasmussen was touched in such a way that Havekotte had no chance. However, Jong Ajax could not enjoy the lead for long, because it was already equal within a few minutes. After losing the ball in midfield, Martijn Kaars picked up the ball and brought it in from the left, where Peter van Ooijen was ready to shoot in: 1-1. Not much later, Jarno Lion encountered goalkeeper Charlie Setford. There would be no more scoring in the final phase.

Young Ajax again failed to win.

In the opening phase, Stije Resink had a chance to head Almere into an early lead. attempt, however, ended in the hands of Telstar goalkeeper Joey Houweling. Both teams threateningly came out in the first company with great regularity. Pascu tried with a shot that went over and Telstar was also close to the lead. After an hour of play, Resink had a shooting opportunity at the far post, but he shot over. On the other side, Tom Overtoom’s shot went wide. Moments later, Ramon Min tried with a shot that could be deflected. Ten minutes before the end, Almere City took the lead through Lance Duijvestijn. A shot from the attacker passed under Houweling: 0-1. Damian van Bruggen received his second yellow card in the final phase, but the Flevolanders nevertheless held on.

Roda JC Kerkrade – FC Dordrecht 1-0
Sahverdi Cetin created the first big danger of the match. The Dordrecht midfielder came face to face with Moritz Nicolas, who emerged victorious. Roda was the parent in the first company and through Dylan Vente it almost became 1-0. However, the striker encountered Liam Bossin. Just before the break, Bryan Limbombe and Vente were still close to taking the lead, but Bossin asserted himself again. Dordrecht striker Elso Brito was able to take the lead in the 64th minute. After a nice cross, he shot on goal in one go, but Nicolas prevented the ball from ending up in the far corner. Roda got better in the final phase, but kept bumping into Bossin. In the 80th minute it still became 1-0 for the Limburgers. Bryan Limbombe launched for a free kick and found the far corner brilliantly.

NAC Breda – Young AZ 5-1
NAC Breda had few problems with Young AZ at home. The team of coach Peter Hyballa opened the score in the eleventh minute via Charles-Jesaja Herrmann, who received a deep ball from Boyd Lucassen, outsmarted the defenders and fumbled in the 1-0. Shortly after the break, Odysseus Velanas used a penalty kick that was awarded after a foul by Loek Peters: 2-0. The same Peters received his second yellow card not much later, after which NAC expanded the lead via Velanas (after replacing Sabir Agougil), Ezechiel Banzuzi (header) and again Velanas (header) to 5-0. Via Jurre van Aken, Young AZ did something back just before time, but that was it.

FC Den Bosch – MVV 3-3
The hits were evenly distributed over both halves in this attractive encounter. After fifteen minutes, Leroy Labylle clumsily headed the ball into his own goal, giving the home team the lead. After Den Bosch lost the ball, Ruben van Bommel made it 1-1, after which Tomas Kalinauskas put the home team ahead again just before the break from a cross from Danny Verbeek. Anass Ahannach made it 3-1 from a difficult angle in the 56th minute, making it seem to be a difficult story for MVV. In the final phase, however, it still put things in order via tickers from Dailon Livramento and Mart Remans.
