PEC Zwolle is working with serious personnel problems towards the away match against Vitesse, which is scheduled for Saturday evening. Trainer Bert Konterman says at the press conference in the run-up to that game on Friday that he will have to miss no fewer than ten players. Six of the absentees have become infected with the corona virus.

The Stentor reports that Bram van Polen, Sam Kersten, Destan Bajselmani, Mike van Duinen, Thomas Buitink, Sai van Wermeskerken, Eliano Reijnders, Nigel Bertrams, Immanuel Pherai and Virgil Misidjan are absent. Due to privacy legislation, PEC Zwolle is not allowed to disclose which of these absentees have contracted the corona virus and which four players are missing due to an injury.

To prevent further spread of the corona virus, PEC Zwolle has decided by order of the medical staff not to train in groups until Friday. The players were given a training schedule to be able to stay in shape at home. “Yes, that is no different”, responds trainer Bert Konterman in conversation with the Stentor. “I can get very angry, cry or swear. But that makes no sense. That will not change the situation. So you just have to accept it and make the most of it. I think we succeeded. ”

Konterman assumes that the corona-infected players will no longer be able to take action for the rest of the season. “That is, of course, very sour. Not only for us, but also for those players. Also because there are boys with an expiring contract. So they played their last game for PEC. ”
