Patrick Kluivert is extremely impressed by Brian Brobbey. Guest in the program Rondo by Ziggo Sports the former Ajax player explains that he thinks Ajax's current striker is a 'super striker', but that there is still room for improvement. Marco van Basten is less enthusiastic than his table companion.

“I still have contact with Brobbey occasionally,” says Kluivert. “Because I really think he is a super striker. For Ajax that is really a very good striker. Of course I was very different from Brian. But I think he is worth gold for Ajax at the moment.”

Van Basten, who has previously expressed constructive criticism about Brobbey, does not fully agree with Kluivert's words. “He is right about that, that he is worth gold to Ajax…”

“But to say that he is a super striker… if you look at what an Ajax striker needs. In terms of technique, in terms of ball handling, in terms of teamwork,” Van Basten continues.

“Then I don't think he's that great in principle. He's not like you were or like other strikers were. We are all very happy that he is playing, but if you dissect him, he should actually be even better, right?”

“I understand what you mean,” Kluivert responds. “The potential is high. “At the moment he is showing good things, but there are also things that can be improved. He has to be more of a killer in front of goal. We don't have to doubt what he is like as a point of contact. But the players around him can also play more in his service. I think he still has to create his own chances too much,” Kluivert concludes.

Van Basten believes that Brobbey should also be less distracted. “He lets his opponents take him out of his game far too much. He has to make sure he doesn't have a fight every game.”
