Paris Saint-Germain has strengthened itself with Carlos Soler, the club announces through the official channels. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder comes over from Valencia and signs a contract until mid-2027 Mundo Deportivo an amount of eighteen million euros, to which a further three million euros can be added through bonuses. Soler still had a contract until mid-2023 with Valencia, where he was captain.

“I am very happy!” Soler said on the website of his new club. “This is a new adventure in my career. I am very proud and looking forward to meeting my teammates, working with them and giving everything for this club. On Tuesday we play our first Champions League match, in Parc des Prinses, and maybe then I can get to know everything a little bit. I’m sure it will be a big party for everyone, including the fans.”

PSG saw several midfielders leave this summer. Georginio Wijnaldum (AS Roma), Leandro Paredes (Juventus), Julian Draxler (Benfica) and Ander Herrera (Athletic Club) were all loaned out, while Xavi Simons (PSV) and Idrissi Gueye (Everton) closed the Paris door for good. As replacements, the team of coach Christophe Galtier got three players for today: Fabián Ruiz (taken over from Napoli), Vitinha (FC Porto) and Renato Sanches (Lille). So now Soler is added.

Soler was born in Valencia and went through the entire youth academy of the club. At the end of 2016, he made his debut in the Valencia first team, eventually making 226 appearances, scoring 36 goals and assisting 31. In 2019 he won his only prize with loose Che: the Copa del Rey, by beating Barcelona 2-1 in the final. In addition, Soner played nine international matches for Spain, in which he scored three times.
