Paris Saint-Germain take over Alessandro Florenzi on loan at AS Roma, both clubs announced on Friday. The lost finalist of the Champions League is also negotiating an option to buy the 29-year-old right-hand man, whose contract in Rome lasts another three seasons. No statements will be made on the amount for which PSG can recruit Florenzi.

Florenzi has been identified by the above-mentioned Italian media as the replacement for Thomas Meunier, who swapped PSG for Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer. The right-footed winger was loaned out to Valencia by AS Roma in the second half of last season. Due to the corona crisis and injury, Florenzi barely managed to play in Spain. PSG initially wanted to take over Héctor Bellerin from Arsenal on a loan basis, but the Frenchman got zero at the request of North London.

Before leaving for Valencia, Florenzi carried the captaincy of AS Roma, who are now in the hands of Edin Dzeko. Coach Paulo Fonseca sees no future for the Italian international at AS Roma. According to the coach, Florenzi does not fit into the system with three defenders he wants to play. As a result, Florenzi can look forward to a new temporary move of the club.

Florenzi will be the second Italian player in the PSG series after Marco Verratti. The experienced fullback is now in 280 appearances in the AS Roma shirt, in which he scored 28 goals and 32 shots. Florenzi is the first acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain this transfer summer.
