Sven van Beek is the only record holder in the Eredivisie due to his own goal against FC Utrecht on Saturday (3-2 defeat). Willem II’s defender passed his own goalkeeper Arijanet Muric just before half-time and thus scored seven own goals. Van Beek had to share the record of the most number of own goals in the Eredivisie until Saturday evening with the Brazilian Marilia, former defender of Sparta Rotterdam and VVV-Venlo.
Afterwards, Van Beek gave in ESPN indicates that the record did not interest him much. “If I don’t go into the game, they say something about it. Now he falls unhappy again. I know. Van Beek has now scored no less than four more own goals than he managed to work the ball into the charity. The last time he worked the ball for charity was five years ago. He made two for Feyenoord in the 2015/16 season and one in the 2014/15 football season.
